The sprawling lobby at Grand Mercure Bengaluru

With its many start-ups and tech parks, Bengaluru is a city of evolution and modernity. But it is also a city with a rich cultural heritage and unique historical architecture. The new Grand Mercure hotel next to Gopalan Signature Mall highlights the best of both these worlds for their guests to experience.

The 212-room hotel draws its design inspiration from the architecture of the Hoysala empire—a Kannadiga power that ruled Karnataka between the 10th and 14th centuries. With gold-washed pillars, pops of colour, an intricately detailed facade and a signature scent of sandalwood, the hotel combines the traditional with the modern to create an elegant palatial space.

The La Utsav Restaurant kitchen

The multi-cuisine all-day dining restaurant La Utsav celebrates the lost recipes of Karnataka,  and also caters to the global palate. Like the rest of the city, the restaurant takes its coffee seriously, sourcing the beans from the oldest organic estate in Yelligudige, Chikmagalur. Here, you will be served filter coffee with your breakfast in the dawra- the traditional stainless steel cup, in true Kannadiga fashion. Even the lobby bar, an alfresco space named 1026 AD, pays homage to the Hoysala Empire and features a selection of speciality coffees, including Vietnamese, Turkish, Chemex and vacuum coffee.

The hotel boasts over ten event spaces, including an expansive terrace, a charming alfresco area and several indoor venues for celebrations and weddings. The hotel has a terrace gym along with a high-intensity workout zone for the adrenaline junkies. For those looking for a calmer routine, start your days with morning yoga sessions and end them with a slow unwinding session at the Tattva spa. Here’s what to expect:
