First-Gen Subaru BRZ Gets A Mild Attitude Adjustment, Do You Dig The Look?

Aftermarket tuner Barracuda has put the spotlight on a first generation Subaru BRZ, which rocks one of their rim sets.

For this project, they chose the 19-inch Shoxx wheels, with a matte black finish and a five double-spoke design, wrapped in 225/35 tires.

The wheelmaker said that this set can fill the wheel arches of the old BRZ without any modifications, and just in case black isn’t your color, they can also be had in bronze. Other sizes are available as well, from 18 to 20 inches.

Rounding out the looks of the Japanese sports coupe is the ST X coilover kit from ST Suspensions, which has brought the body closer to the ground.

The naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine remains untouched, so it still develops almost 200 horsepower and 151 pound-feet (205 Nm) of torque. It drives the rear wheels through a six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic transmission. With a perfect launch, the 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration takes around 7 and a half seconds, while flat-out, it will do 140 mph (225 km/h).

If the first-gen BRZ feels outdated, then perhaps the new one would suit your needs better, unless you live in Europe that is, because Subaru has no intention of launching it over there.

Powering it is a new naturally aspirated 2.4-liter flat-four, with 228 HP and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm), mated to a standard six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic transmission, with a limited-slip differential being offered across the range at no extra cost.
