How Gina Kirschenheiter’s Restraining Order Against Ex Changed

The Real Housewives of Orange County star Gina Kirschenheiter’s restraining order against ex-husband Matt is still in effect, but with some changes.

Gina Kirschenheiter of The Real Housewives of Orange County filed a restraining order against ex-husband Matt Kirschenheiter, which has remained in effect over a year after the filing, but has recently seen some changes.

Gina joined RHOC for its 13th season, along with fellow cast member Emily Simpson. Throughout Gina’s time on the show, she and her ex, Matt, have had quite a few issues in their marriage. The former couple originally split in summer 2018, but reconciled not too long after. Their reconciliation did not last long after Matt was charged with domestic violence. Gina then finalized her divorce in December 2019.

According to Us Weekly, the reality star’s restraining order against Matt is still in effect over a year after she filed. Even though the restraining order is ongoing, some changes have been made to it. Matt no longer has to undergo drug and alcohol testing as of April of this year. He and Gina are still required to use the website TalkingParents to discuss their three children. The couple must use this website so a third party can keep track of their conversations. As for the next case hearing, Gina and Matt have a court date set for some time in January 2021. Hopefully, these changes will help the former couple reach a place of respect and kindness for each other. Matt has broken Gina’s trust, and this protective order is the only way to rebuild their relationship.

Gina was open about Matt’s violent abuse during the season 14 reunion of RHOC. The mother of three explained how they decided to reconcile after initially separating. Then, in summer 2019, Matt attacked her. “I was really scared. I ran out of the house, and I rang my neighbor’s doorbell, and I was banging on the door. And he dragged me back in the house,” Gina said of the attack. The reality star said Matt seemed like a completely different person and she felt afraid. Thankfully, the neighbors got involved and were able to call the cops. “They all called the police and then the cops came, they arrested him…It was scary. It was really scary.” After the attack, Matt was charged with two felony counts of domestic violence in September 2019. He pleaded not guilty last year and is currently set to appear in court this November. Gina has gone through so much with Matt these past couple of years, so it was time for her to move on and start a new chapter of her life. She is currently dating her boyfriend, Travis Mullen, whom she met during summer 2019. The couple is still together today and were shown together in the season 15 premiere of RHOC.

As the restraining order changes, the chances of Gina and Matt being able to co-parent together increase. Gina wants her kids to have a good relationship with their father, and the protective order is in effect to lead them there one day.
