WandaVision’s Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen shared a gross kiss on the Marvel series, and they each say it was the other person’s fault.
Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen both blame the other person for a gross kiss they shared on the set of WandaVision. The new Marvel Cinematic Universe series will stream on Disney+ later this year. The release of WandaVision‘s trailer caused a huge stir among Marvel enthusiasts who have been movie-starved since Spider-Man: Far From Home came out last year. Phase 4 of the MCU will be a tangibly new era, not only because half of the central characters had their storylines wrapped up in Avengers: Endgame, but also because the company is branching out in terms of style, genre, and cultural representation.

WandaVision is a clear example of this new era of experimentation. The show will follow Wanda Maximoff (Olson) and Vision (Bettany), who died in Avengers: Infinity War. The show appears to have a trippy and eerie vibe, exacerbated by the cloud of mystery surrounding the entire premise. These elements stand in contrast to the vintage sitcom structure also teased in footage and images. Whichever style the show leans into most, WandaVision promises to be a feast for the eyes, according to Bettany.
Per EW, while filming the mysterious suburban nightmare, Olsen and Bettany shared one kiss they refer to as “Snotgate.” Before the pandemic started, the two locked lips for an emotional kiss in particularly cold weather – causing someone’s nose to start running. Neither of them have claimed responsibility for the snot and both blame the other person. You can read each person’s take on the incident below:
Bettany: She’ll tell you a crock of s*** about whose snot it was. I know the truth, and people shouldn’t be fooled by her story.
Olsen: When he has that makeup on, he can’t really feel his leaking fluids anyway, like I can. I was like, ‘You can’t even tell you’re snotting! I can! You can’t feel your face ’cause it’s covered in paint!‘
The two actors have great chemistry on-screen and a close friendship off-screen. The “Snotgate” incident is just another part of their banter, which began back in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It’s a good thing WandaVision cast members Olsen and Bettany have such a healthy and playful friendship, too, as that often translates on-screen to a more authentic relationship for fans to follow.
WandaVision marks an exciting new installment of the MCU that will break barriers when it comes to world-making. Bringing so many genres into the show is a bold move to make, but luckily Disney has the budget and the talent to hopefully do it well. WandaVision has also opened up the potential for unexplored concepts in the MCU. For example, fans have already speculated who may return now that Marvel has allowed the possibility of seeing previously killed characters. However, to confirm their theories, viewers will have to wait until WandaVision is available to stream on Disney+ in December.
