Demon’s Souls Photo Mode Lets Players Share Their Best (& Worst) Moments

A new Photo Mode for the PS5 remaster of Demon’s Souls will allow fans to capture their climatic victories (& their grizzly demises) for all to see.

A new Photo Mode on the remastered Demon’s Souls for the PlayStation 5 will allow players to show off their almighty achievements… and painful demises. The release of Demon’s Souls on the PlayStation 5 is one of the most hotly anticipated games of the year. Originally released in 2009 for the PlayStation 3, it has created a strong fanbase of dedicated demon slayers over the last 11 years.

PlayStation has been keeping plenty of focus on the upcoming remaster of Demon’s Souls lately, releasing a steady drip-feed of new footage and information over the last few weeks. From showing off the incredible (and terrifying) demons that players will face in all of their next-gen glory to updated camera options, Sony has succeeded in not just increasing the anticipation for the fans of the original, but also in enticing new players to the cursed world of Boletaria.

In addition to the newly introduced character creator, which PlayStation has promised will give gamers a deeper connection to their in-game avatar, a new Photo Mode has been revealed for Demon’s Souls. Debuted on the PlayStation Blog, this Photo Mode will be able to truly capture the gameplay in all of its grotesque beauty, allowing gamers to share their conquests of the savage beasts found within the Deep Fog. Of course, Demon’s Souls is famous for its difficulty and brutality, so gamers will likely also have numerous chances to share their grizzly ends, should they so wish. Included in the mode is the ability to remove weapons and armor, allowing player’s customized avatars to take center stage without the hindrance of a clunky helmet taking all of the glory – something that will be welcomed by those who have taken hours to painstakingly immortalize themselves in a heroic form on the character creator.

For fans with a sense of nostalgia for the original version of Demon’s Souls, there is also an option to change the filters on the camera. These filters will allow gamers to adjust the brightness and textures on their screens, enabling them to resemble the graphics of the PlayStation 3 more closely, if they choose to do so. In great news for fans of this classic style, the use of filters is not only available while in Photo Mode, but also during the gameplay itself, making for a true trip down memory lane.

While there is a huge surge of enthusiasm for the release of Demon’s Souls on the PlayStation 5, it has been met by some criticism from purists of the original. It was recently announced that there will be hints and tips available on the PlayStation UI to assist gamers on their quest through Boletaria. Many feel this is a step backwards for the game, as a lot of its original appeal came from the gruelling, almost harsh, gaming experience. Either way, the release of Demon’s Souls this month is sure to be a gem of an exclusive for the PlayStation 5, with the Photo Mode and filters making for popular additions to the game.
